South House
Hosted by the Southern Yankee, South House is a Southern Dance Party series that captures Southern nightlife and vibes in a bottle and smuggles it into NYC! The perfect cure for your homesickness if your from the South and have been missing it!
Overall: 9/10
Ticket Price: $30
Drinks: The Sultan Room features 3 floors including a rooftop with a bar on each one. Each bar was reasonably staffed with at least 2 bar tenders. There was an open bar on the roof featuring the “South House Tequila Punch” and drink prices were ~$15-17 each.
Venue: The Sultan Room - 9/10
Music: 10/10 - New and old school southern hip hop and R&B, Trap, Twerk, Crunk, N.O. Bounce and Cookout Classic vibes provided by Eden, Taela Naomi, A-List Kariss, Mohogany, DJ 9AM and Mondai. Easily had the whole place tilted!
Tubbs Krueger was the night’s MC!
Energy: 9/10 - While the party got off to a late start, people quickly got adjusted and comfortable after having a chance to settle in. Once that happened, things quickly popped off and stayed that way for the rest of the night!
Dress Code: Casual
Food: No food was served during the party but there were plenty of food trucks and late night food spots just outside the venue, if you needed a quick bite.
Other: South House also featured a cash coat check in case you overheating in your jacket. And I know what some of y’all are thinking, “Rooftop? In the winter?”. But the Southern Yankee team was really thoughtful in ensuring there were several heaters on the roof so people would be comfortable! Kudos to them! The first South House event of 2023 was a huge success.
