There are a lot of great events happening in August, but these events are extra hot 🔥
Everytime DJ Holup is spinning he always presents a vibe and we expect the same throughout his new mini series Gbedu Sessions. The event will be hosted at La Vibra in Manhattan with a Belaire champagne happy hour from 10pm to 11pm. There will also be Captain Morgan cocktail special cocktails all night. Turn up to all the afrobeats hits with DJ Buka, DJ Mohogany and DJ Holup himself. All afrobeats lovers should definitely be in attendance.
PVO NY 5th Year Anniversary - 8/5
PVO is celebrating half a decade of bringing positive vibes only all around the world, in the biggest cities including New York, LA, DC, London, Lagos and Accra. The event will take place in the Penthouse at The Ravel Hotel in Queens. PVO is setting the positive vibes with the vibrant color dress code, summer chic feel and complementary champagne. As for the foodies, don't worry, the food is included with the ticket admission. The DJ line up is something serious. DJ First Choice, Milhouse, Flygerian will be in the building alongside other dope DJs and host’s Young Prince & Mouse Jones. It’s going to be a time for sure!
5x5 Block Party Series - Multiple Dates
The Layout Co always delivers a lit outdoor function and this month they are doing it in every borough! They are shutting down the streets in Brooklyn, Harlem, The Bronx, Queens and even Staten Island so no matter where you stay you won’t have to travel far to join the fun. They are inviting us all to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop with them all over NYC and we can’t wait. There will be over 25 black owned businesses at each event and we love when community and culture is baked into the turn up.
You won't wanna miss out on "Dope BBQ: Sound Clash"! Hosted at the Arts District's indoor/outdoor venue, it’ll be a clash of Hip-Hop/R&B sounds goin' head-to-head with Afrobeats/Dancehall tunes. Imagine 10 of NYC's hottest DJs competing to see how far in your bag they can get you to go. And the whole event is brought to you by Hornitos Tequila, y'all know tequila is the new Henny. There’s gonna be food too and parties with food are already a step above the rest. There will be: jerk chicken, salmon and shrimp skewers! The energy at Dope BBQ is always on 10 and we expect this event to be just as lit.
Linkup For Life: The Black Linkup Anniversary Party - 8/12
The Black Linkup is celebrating our 1 year anniversary on August 12th at the illustrious Hotel Chantelle and we’ve got a lot of surprises for all of our supporters. The event will be ALL DAY from 3pm to 10pm. The venue features 3 floors with completely different vibes: The top floor is an outdoor rooftop with a retractable roof so the party goes on rain or shine. The full food menu will be available on the roof with plenty of seating. The main floor is the largest with the most room to turn up. The bottom floor is giving nightclub vibes. It has all the lights and will be bumping Afrobeats and Dancehall while the other 2 floors will have us in our Hip Hop and RnB bag. Tubbs Krugger will be hosting so the energy is about to be way way up & every single DJ in our line up is pressure! DJ Buka, DJ Ken Dollaz, Milhouse, DJ Holup, Silva Soundz and Citizen B are about to shut it down. We are also partnering with Soul Stitched to give away 50 limited edition t-shirts so make sure y’all get there early before they are gone. And since the vibes will be hot y’all can cool down with free cocomangocherry! We can’t wait to celebrate this amazing year with you.
Get ready for another monthly edition of Mixxology on August 18th. We're shaking things up a bit and bringing the party to a new location, this time at the DL. Like Hotel Chantelle, this venue features a retractable roof, so no matter what the weather we are gonna have a good time. Getting us right on the night are DJ Milhouse and Sounds of Reality, two of New York's hottest DJs. Don't forget, there's some fire food to keep you fueled up throughout the night! Link us for a night you won't want to miss!
Fine Wine is back in NY! This time just north of NYC in Mount Vernon. Fine Wine Series is a wine tasting meets Roc Nation Brunch. Every year people show up and show out in luxe vibrant outfits giving sophistication and black excellence and we love every second of it. We’re in it for the wine and the fashion y’all. There will be food, activations, vibes and wine by the boatload. This year's dress theme is ‘The Finest Looks of Wine’. Attendees are asked to come wearing wine inspired colors. Whites, nudes and yellows to represent white wine, pinks for rose and deep reds. The music will be jumpin too! They’ve got DJ Buka, DJ 9am, DJ Saige, DJ Marz and DJ Canal curating the vibes. Oh, and drinks are included. Each ticket comes with a 3 or 4 hour wine tasting. We will definitely be in attendance and you should be too.
The Palmwine Music festival is making its North American debut in NYC at Central Park. If you aren’t familiar, it is an African music festival created by Nigerian rap duo Show Dem Camp. The festival takes place in different cities all over the world but is finally coming to the US and we are hype! In addition to Show Dem Camp, other african artists will be performing including Ladipoe, Mannywellz, Boj, Somadina, Nesta, Dipo and more. While the festival usually has tickets for sale, this time they are partnering with Summerstage to grant all attendees FREE ENTRY. We are super excited and think y'all should be too.
